I’m Telling You Again, Diet Low in Fats is Good For Your Health

If someone had to go through a heart problem, such as a heart attack, for your own health the best choice I could make with regard to diet is to follow a low-fat diet or follow the Mediterranean diet, so once again suggest a recent study published in The American Journal of Cardiology.

While both types of diets provide similar amounts of protein, carbohydrates, cholesterol and saturated fat, the second option is much healthier monounsaturated fats, especially omega 3 fatty acids from fish as beneficial to cardiovascular health.

However, the authors of this study said in its conclusions that either option may be the most appropriate choice for a better quality of life, while it would be beneficial to the health of those who have already suffered a heart attack.

The study itself to see how those patients had been joined and completed a food plan with any of these two diets, after four years showed a significant decline in the risk of any new cardiovascular disorder “was a 70 percent lower in participants who received the dietary intervention, “said Catherine Tuttle thereon, the main responsible for the study.

The research team of Sacred Heart Medical Center and University of Washington, took a sample of 50 patients who met strict diet Step II of the American Heart Association (reduced fat) and another 51 who followed the Mediterranean diet.

Men and women had the stroke within the first six weeks of the start of the study and received individual and group nutritional counseling for 24 months: in addition, they are also encouraged to exercise, lose weight and to stop the snuff, those who were smokers.

For four years, the team found that eight people in each diet had a second heart attack, unstable angina (chest pain on effort) or cerebrovascular accident (CVA). Although none died.

Whereas when the authors evaluated a similar group of 101 patients with first stroke, but had not participated in the study, found that 33 suffered a second heart attack, heart failure, unstable angina or stroke, and seven died (three problems heart).

Active participation in a Mediterranean food or low fat would be a “wise choice” for people at high risk for cardiovascular problems, the team concluded.
